Information for Graduating High School Seniors

DVC welcomes graduating high school seniors with IEPs and 504 plans, and is committed to your success! Find out more about starting your college journey at DVC!

Disability Support Services conducts outreach to graduating high school seniors with IEPs and 504 plans. This process helps students effectively use DSS priority registration and receive their accommodation plan before the start of their first semester of coursework.

An Academic Accommodation Plan (AAP) lists the services available to each student, such as extended testing time and note-taking assistance. It is created for each individual and signed by both the student and the DSS Counselor.  The AAP must be signed and returned to DSS for students to receive priority registration. If any of these deadlines are missed, students must follow the process as outlined on the Apply to DVC page.

Please note: All communications from DSS will be sent to students' InSite email. Students can access DVC email through the Email tile on InSite.

See the DSS Registration Guide (PDF) or Guía de inscripción para los servicios de DSS (PDF) to complete the registration process for incoming students. The steps in this guide should be started after students complete their DVC application and receive a DVC ID number. These steps will guide you through registering with DSS and enrolling in fall courses.

Student Information Sessions

Beginning in January 2026, DSS counselors will be presenting to students at local high schools on the process outlined in the DSS Registration Guide.

DSS Information Nights

We will be holding two virtual DSS Information Nights in February 2026. These sessions will cover how to apply to DSS for early registration, common DSS accommodations, and the differences between high school and college accommodations.

Need Assistance with the Step-by-Step Process?

Students can receive assistance with the orientation or assessment by contacting the DSS High Tech Center at DSSHighTechCenter@dvc.edu using the subject line: “Incoming 2026 Freshman,” and a high tech center staff person will respond to you with a Zoom link that you can use for real-time assistance.

Additional Questions?

Students can contact DSSOutreachActivities@dvc.edu with other questions. This email account is checked on Fridays.

Counseling appointments are not available for high school students.

Note: Students following this DSS registration process do not need to take Counseling 095, though if you miss any of the above deadlines, you must follow the general student registration process. You can find information in one of our enrollment checklists. The general student process includes taking Counseling 095 to receive academic advising for first-semester courses. Once you are registered for fall classes, send an email to DSSOutreachActivities@dvc.edu for next steps to receive your Academic Accommodation Plan.
