Donna Kimmel-Lake has been an instructor at DVC since September 2000. She teaches Crime Scene Investigation and Advanced Crime Scene Forensics. She has over 36 years of experience working in the field of law enforcement and forensics. Her areas of expertise include crime scene investigation, friction ridge detail examination, AFIS (Automated Fingerprint Identification System) Database Administration, DNA Database Administration, and teaching. She has worked for the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office in the Criminalistics Laboratory of the Forensic Services Division, and also for the Napa County Sheriff’s Office in the Evidence Laboratory. She is an expert in several key areas, including documentation and evidence collection at crime scenes, laboratory examination of evidence, autopsy examination, serial number restoration, controlled substance testing, administration of the DNA Property Crime Database, and both Inked and Latent Friction Ridge Detail examination and analysis. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice Administration and numerous certifications in the field of crime scene investigation and evidence examination.
